SIMON SHAW
I studied at Wirral College of Art and Design and then Braintree College, Essex. During the 1980’s I worked at several U.K. potteries and taught at Wirral Metropolitan College. After 3 years working in Bermuda I returned to the U.K. in 1997 and established my present workshop in Merseryside. My work is stocked by about 30 galleries in the U.K. including The Potters Gallery in Conway, of which I am a co-operative member.I also participate in major ceramics festivals including Potfest events and Ceramics South East. The work I make is mainly thrown using a stoneware clay with porcelain, raku clay, and glass additions. Barium based Glazes give a textured matt finish with a colour pallet of blues, greens and lilacs.
